ANDREA TAFI (Fucecchio, May 7, 1966) is a former Italian cyclist.
Andrea Tafi became a professional cyclist in 1989. Two years later he already won the prestigious Tour of Lazio. Tafi proved to be someone who could drive at a very high speed, which made him a highly esteemed teammate. Every now and then he won a race. In 1996 he broke through as a permanent specialist in classics while we was racing for the MAPEI team, he won the Tour of Lazio again, Paris-Brussels and the Tour of Lombardy; his first World Cup race. He won his second victory in a World Cup one year later, in the now discontinued Rochester Classic. 1998 was with 6 wins, his most successful year. He became Italian Champion and he won the Tour of Lazio for the third time.
The following year he achieved, in his own words, his greatest victory: Paris-Roubaix.
Also two other classics could write Tafi’s name on their winners-list: Paris-Tours (2000) and the Tour of Flanders (2002). After Paris-Roubaix in 2005, where he was riding in a special cobblestone sweater, he put an end to his successful career as a cyclist.
In 2006 he opened, with his wife Gloria, 'Il Borghetto di Andrea Tafi” in his hometown of Lamporecchio. A holiday-cycling hotel, surrounded by all the beauty that Tuscany has to offer.
In 2009 TAFI started his own brand for Italian quality cycling clothing : ANDREA TAFI ROAD STYLE - Italian fashion for Cycling
